Teisco — Tokyo Electric Instrument and Sound Company — was founded in Japan in 1946 by Atswo Kaneko and Doryu Matsuda, and went on to become one of the defining forces of the 1960s Japanese guitar boom. Exported throughout the decade under names including Del Rey, Kingston, and Silvertone, Teisco instruments found their way onto stages and into bedrooms all over the world, providing affordable, characterful electric guitars to a generation of players just discovering the instrument. The DG-67 is a bold and striking example of their work — a multi-pickup solid body with that distinctly Japanese flair for eye-catching design, warm single-coil pickups, and a playing feel that has won over an entirely new generation of vintage enthusiasts and garage rock devotees. This 1960s example is in very good condition for its age and has recently been treated to a fresh re-fret, meaning it plays beautifully and is thoroughly gig-ready. A rare and characterful find.
